Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what data Pulse collects when you connect your Shopify store, how we use it, and the choices available to you. Pulse is a Shopify-connected analytics and forecasting service; our only source of merchant and customer data is the Shopify Admin API and Shopify webhooks.
2. Data We Collect
When you connect your Shopify store, we collect and store:
- Store information: your shop domain and the Shopify access token issued to Pulse.
- Order and refund records: line items, prices, discounts, timestamps, and fulfillment status.
- Inventory levels: stock quantities per product variant and location.
- Customer data as included in order records (for example, customer ID and order history) to the extent needed to compute store-level metrics. Pulse does not collect customer data independent of orders, and does not use it for marketing.
3. How We Use Data
We use the data above only to:
- Compute your store's revenue diagnostics, drivers, and comparisons.
- Generate forecasts, either from a statistical baseline or, where enough history exists, a forecasting model trained across Pulse's connected merchants.
- Generate the narrative text of your daily Morning Brief, which may involve sending a structured summary of your store's metrics (never raw order or customer records) to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) for text generation.
- Send you the Morning Brief by email, if you have an email delivery address configured.
- Diagnose and fix issues with the service.
4. Data We Do Not Do
We do not sell your data or your customers' data. We do not use your store data to train models for the benefit of unrelated third parties outside of improving Pulse's own forecasting for Pulse merchants. We do not share your data with advertisers.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your store data for as long as your Shopify store is connected to Pulse, so that Pulse can continue generating accurate briefs. If you uninstall Pulse from your Shopify admin, we stop collecting new data. In accordance with Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks, we honor customers/redact and shop/redact requests by deleting the corresponding stored data.
6. Third Parties
We use the following third-party service providers to operate Pulse: Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, and email delivery), OpenAI (narrative text generation, receiving only structured metric summaries, never raw order or customer data), and Shopify (as the source of all store data, and, once billing is enabled, subscription payment processing via Stripe). Each processes data under its own privacy policy and only as necessary to provide their service to us.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you or your customers. You can exercise these rights, or ask a question about this policy, by contacting us at jono.greve@gmail.com.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
